About Mappin & Webb
Mappin & Webb is famed for combining timeless craftsmanship with superior quality. Since its inception over two centuries ago, it has produced excellent jewellery, silverware, watches and glassware. And so, the brand has played a crucial role in the development of the modern luxury market that we're all familiar with today.
Its story began in 1775 in Sheffield, where Jonathan Mappin opened a silver workshop, fuelled by a vision to create premium silverware. His fervent ambition led the company to expand internationally, receiving royal commissions from monarchs across the world in the process. Unsurprisingly, the brand soon became synonymous with excellence, helping Britain to stake its place in the global silverware market.
Notable owners of Mappin & Webb watches and jewellery include the infamous Marie Antoinette, the last Czar of Russia Nicholas II, Winston Churchill, Charles Dickens, Harry Houdini and Hollywood legend Grace Kelly. While time has passed since the brand first began, its reputation has stayed strong - today, it continues to boast a wealth of satisfied clients from across the globe.
