History of NOMOS Watches

NOMOS was founded in Glashütte in 1990 by Roland Schwertner and quickly flourished in the watchmaking sphere. The brand has since expanded beyond Glashütte, with teams now in Berlin and New York among others.

A ground-breaking discovery was made in 2014, as NOMOS created its own “escapement”, a system that allowed it to power a mechanical watch and set the pace. This was a huge step forward for NOMOS, as it meant the brand no longer had to rely on third parties to manage quality control for its watches.

NOMOS continues to evolve today, creating high-calibre, innovative timepieces that have come to be renowned around the world. The brand has won over 160 prizes for its design, watchmaking craft and sustainability efforts, cementing NOMOS’ name as an industry leader.

Caring for Your NOMOS Watch

Your NOMOS watch is a carefully constructed instrument and requires a little TLC to ensure it lasts a lifetime. Your watch should be serviced every three to five years and NOMOS also recommends a check every year to make sure it remains water-resistant.

We offer in-store servicing at our Newcastle and Middlesbrough boutiques, or you can choose for us to send your piece to a NOMOS watch workshop. 

You can clean your NOMOS watch at home in between services as required. Simply polish the strap or bracelet with a soft, dry cloth. If your bracelet becomes stained, a little mild soap and water will help you clean it. However, this method should only be used for watches that are at least 10 ATM water-resistant.

We know that sometimes accidents happen, which is why we offer Goldsmiths Care on NOMOS Glashütte watches. This service will protect your new watch against accidental damage, theft and malfunction. All you need to do is visit one of our UK stores to submit a claim and we’ll repair or replace your NOMOS watch as soon as possible.
